VAP
Is a process in which we marshal suppliers’ skills to best optimize competitive and best-processes fulfillment for our clients’ benefit. Our process develops a secure and responsive supply base that is capable of providing quality, delivery, costs, technologies, flexibility, financial capability, certification and other services to meet the current and future business needs of our clients.
Our cost reduction initiatives include benchmarking current spending against a very dynamic marketplace including costs of product and supply chain expenses.VAP provides pressure-sensitive demand resources to support your company's strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Strategic sourcing analysis:
Identify and confirm if and what product categories are suited for China or southeast Asian production or assembly. Provide the full cycle view of the cost, logistics and timing issues to determine if the presumed economics are supportable.
• Supplier selection and due diligence:
Conduct “wide-net” supply-base screening and extensive evaluations of suppliers able to handle organized RFI and RFQ processes. Often our core product offerings (see “Products”) have a pre-existing group of proven performers we have used in the past. Select the supplier that best matches the requirements including its size, financial strength, terms, logistics connections, product reliability history, geographical location, workers relations and over-all quality versus price quotient.
• Supply base setup and management:
Initially we vet and inspect selected production partners if not our pre-existing suppliers. This may include development of samples or tools if that is your requirement. We often arrange client visits including optional tour planning, travel arrangements, and legal entry documentation.
• Once our client approves the supplier selection, we proceed with negotiations, the development of demand forecasting, and transportation/logistics options.
• Other research In this phase we can include determinations of the production partner’s reputation in terms of product quality, ethics and integrity in the market place. This can include assessment whether international quality certifications are genuine or if substitute operations and certifications might be possible; a trap many companies fall into without third-party assistance.
• U.S.-China logistics management:
MWI can integrate in-country and international transportation, warehousing, export processing, inspections if required, special product compliance issues, and customs clearance to deliver the products to the right location and on time. We offer many options including storage in our third-party logistics (3PL) facilities, the establishment of in-plant stores at your facilities or other just-in-time options. You have a distinct advantage with our services over a pure-play broker or consultant since we not only advise but serve as your purchasing principal.
